I ask this question on MyLot, because it's the 'crime' (eating a forbidden fruit) for which a carpenter's son (known as Jesus Christ) is said to have been maimed & executed.

I get the feeling that the lies weren't "spoken by the serpent" so much as " inferred by Eve's devilish nature (an inferrment that was as real as 'monsters under your bed.')

And Adam went along with her story because Eve--a very-high-quality Gift from God--wouldn't "lie" to Adam---from whose body she had been created ... would she?
