Self Discipline
posted October 2, 2009 - 3:29amDiscipline can be categorized into two. One by force, another by self. Discipline by force might lead to the possibility to cheat unless and until it becomes a habit. Self-Discipline would be fearless and gives confidence.
In my experiences, in countries like India, where selfishness and corruption are the way of life. Most people , even who are said to be well educated, don't understand the subtle difference between intelligence and cunningness, business and cheating, awareness and opportunism. One of the reasons may be poverty which make them cheat and live. After the globalisation, people from countries which are growing have gone abroad and are sending money to their home land. Despite, the cheating propensity has not changed yet. Secondly, the population, inspite of government's awareness programs and migration of people to different countries, the raise in population is steep. Observe the nature, animals and birds which set an example of begetting offsprings only during seasons, but so called cultures, highest being on earth, etc., when we check ourselves, are we not ashmed of ourselves to see this uncrontrollable growth in population throughout the year. We wear neat clothes, dress up decently so as others should respect us, on the other hand, animals or birds do not have dress but maintain discipline in getting their offspring only on the season meant for. These are nothing but lack of self-discipline.
Another aspect is, for a money spent, the quality of food is not balanced. Not only this, people are greedy to earn money. To put it in a different way, people don't want to earn money, but they do want to cheat and grab money from the so called customers. In the name of business, they exploit people and there are people who don't even pay tax for their earnings. Right from the basic food to buying a car, corruption and cheating have gone to the uncontrollable limit.
Comparing to countries like US, people want to copy their culture but why do they fail in copying their discipline, honestly, live and let live policy? They want to behave like them but don't want to be honest in life.
One appreciable thing is, those who've gone to countries like US at least change themselves and behave properly when they're in US or in European countries.
We talk in praise of our religion, heritage, culture, etc but do we really value them, live based on the teachings of our so called relgions. Is it not very clear that we cheat ourselves?
All above are the outcome of frustration and in wish to see my country as a wonderful country and in no way to wound the feelings of anyone else or my country in any way.
