Sell Your Kidney
posted November 25, 2007 - 9:55amIt’s my kidney I should be able to sell it. I can sell a used car that has been in a flood, pets to use for fighting, hair extension for self-absorbed celebrities, and fertile eggs for modern couples. I can sell unusable swamp land to gullible buyers. I can
sell expensive warranty agreements for cheap electronics.
I should have that right to sell my body parts. I already sell my blood. Selling your kidney in the United States is illegal: although the usable extra kidney supply is extremely low in the U.S. You can purchase a kidney in the Philippines or Pakistan even though it’s against the law. The only government sanctioned market for kidney selling is Iran. Apparently American politicians do not support buying and selling kidneys. Isn’t this the land of opportunity?
I liked playing Monopoly when I was young. I especially liked getting the – get out of jail free card. We could take the inspiration of this great game and turn it into a human resource. Inmates could sell one of their kidneys for a get out of jail card or a reduced sentence. It would decrease the overcrowding in our prison system. The homeless could sell kidneys in lieu of rent or a place to live. Those close to a home foreclosure could opt to sell their kidney to save their home. Instead of filing personal bankruptcy one could sell their best kidney. Illegal immigrants could sell a kidney for a green card. The opportunities are endless. Isn’t it funny how this strategy seems to target those less fortunate. And what of the cost of buying this kidney would it be plausible for anyone? And would insurance companies pay for the operation? Would there be a high co-pay? So if you don’t have insurance you would be out of luck.

This could be flawed for some but a boon for others
