Well, leaping lizards! What a very interesting situation this is. The marathon race for President continues, but it has been reduced to four individuals. Those still in the race are, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, Senator John McCain, and former Governor Mike Huckabee. The Democrats
are running neck and neck, while Senator McCain is far ahead of Governor Huckabee, by a substantial margin, and with the
endorsement this week, by former Governor Mitt Romney, Senator McCain should have the necessary delegates needed, 1,119, to secure the nomination for the Republican side.
Governor Huckabee on the other hand, is evidently staying in the race to make some kind of point, what it is, only he knows. But the attention is all on the democratic side, where the two Senators, Obama and Clinton, are slugging it out, trying to reach the finish line first.
The Potomac primary, as it has been called, with races in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia netted Senator Obama, eight wins in a row, counting the previous states already in his corner since Super Tuesday. This sweep puts Senator Obama ahead of Senator Clinton in delegate count. This week the state of New Mexico was slated to Senator Clinton, adding one more delegate to her column.
Senator Obama's ability to have a strong ground organization and fantastic fund raising ability on the internet, to the tune of 32 million dollars in the month of January alone,
has shown that his strength in running an effective campaign has been superb.
Mr. Obama has concentrated on the caucuses, whereby in one instance, while Senator Clinton won the state of New Jersey, and Senator Obama won the caucus in Idaho, he won one more delegate in the process.
Senator Clinton's campaign is reportedly having financial
problems as well, having overspent in Iowa, and receiving
a 5 million dollar infusion, in the form of a loan from the
the candidate herself. It has also been reported that Mrs. Clinton has been flying in the press airplane, instead of
separately, while part of her staff worked on a volunteer basis for a month. Not to mention replacing the campaign manager, and having the deputy campaign manager quit, as well.
The Wall Street Journal reported recent infighting over advertising within the campaign.
The bottom line at this time, reportedly is that Senator
Clinton has to win the upcoming states of Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania, but not only win, she must have a huge win,
in order to get the delegate count needed, to pull ahead.
There is a stronger than strong, wind at Senator Obama's
back, which has become, not about Obama, but is now a strong movement in effect, that appears to be, on it's way to a different kind of politics, which will hopefully provide positive results for the American people in the future.
