Seven Very Special Personality Types

Over a lifetime, depending on your job and how outgoing you are, you will meet many different folks in your travels, as I have. I have been able to distinguish certain personality characteristics and have listed them in an orderly fashion so that you can spot them before it’s too late.

1. FRIENDLY TYPE

Here is someone who is just a bit too friendly, you know the type, you’ve only met them once but now you are their bestest buddy. The over friendly type will introduce you to everybody they know, buy you drinks and then invite everybody over to your place after for a party or volunteer your services to blind date his boss‘s niece (you know, the one with the really special personality), or something like that. When you see this person across the street, you put your head down and do your best to avoid eye contact, usually you can hear shouts as you round the next corner and run full speed.

2. KNOW IT ALL

Apparently there is nothing this “fountain of knowledge” doesn’t know, and he/she isn’t shy to tell you about it, usually in a very condescending manner, interrupting any and all conversations they happen upon. This person makes ridiculous claims about such obscure things it is impossible to find out if it’s true or not i.e. Area 51 is home for unwed, space alien, lesbian, mothers or such. Perhaps this person has privy info on top secret, government documents. Yeah, right.

3. GIGGLES

No matter what is said, the giggler will laugh, either they just don’t understand it or they think it is funny…even if it as far from funny as a cry for help. Which, they would probably let out a round of titters to as well. If you do happen to says something funny to them you should likely stand back in case they spill their drink on you, pee their pants or slap you on the back you spill your drink. This person is almost impossible to have a real conversation with and actually is not a good joke tester because they indiscriminately laugh at all of them without hesitation.

4. ONE UP

Although often mistaken for the know it all, this person has surely seen and done much more, on a way grander scale. Actually, the know it all and one up tend to avoid each other like the plague, they are too much alike to get close. Any time you tell an anecdote or describe something you saw, the one up has a better story and likely seen two of everything and they were bigger. If you really want to get the one up’s goat, you make up an impossible story and wait for him/her to top it with something even better for example, you say you‘ve captured a leprechaun and can quit your job cause you stole his gold, the one up will tell you he/she has a whole family of them and they are making his/her shoes.

5. BUTTON PUSHER

At some point, during a weak moment, you have divulged some deep dark secret to this person and now they bring it up any time you are getting more attention than they are. The button pusher will do whatever it takes to be the most popular and make others look foolish. The best way to push this person’s buttons is to give them false info to spread around, and give them a weird look when they spill the beans in mixed company, be ready to deny everything.

6. LOUD GUY

This one tends to turn the volume up and talk over everybody within hearing range, at the same time not saying much at all. The loud guy can be either sex but no matter what, can still be ‘loud guy’. When an announcement needs to be made, this is the person who can make it, but usually picks that time to be low key. The quantity of sound bytes this person put out during a normal conversation would be appropriate in a very loud bar or at a concert.

7. IDA KNOW

Whatever you may ask this one, they will not know the answer to the question, and will have no clue how to find the answer. Anybody can influence Ida know to do anything because that person will follow along in happy bliss, either not knowing what will happen or waiting for you to screw up. Often, Ida does know but doesn’t want you to know, because having someone else know could be a threat to this person’s position.

Whether at the office, or at a social gathering, you can meet one of these people - you are probably already thinking of the people that you know that have these types of personalities, or even noticing bit and pieces of yourself.
