Severe Hail Storm in Jacksonville Florida | Pictures
Hey Guys,
We got hit by the worst hail storm I ever been in before.
It was Sunday June 1 2008 at about 4:30.
We were right outside of our apartment driving home when all hell broke loose.
60 mph winds along with hail up to golfball size hit our car. My friend was following behind us when, instantly we couldn't see the road. We pulled over and sat there while ice balls slammed in to the car.
After about 5 minutes we became so terrified of tornadoes we drove a little to our apartment. Street signs were blown sideways and the road was covered in water and ice. Somehow we made it and ran inside to safety.
It hailed for about 20-30 minutes. The temperature went from 93 to 62 almost instantly.
Gutters and a few trees are blown over in our complex.
Our cars are all dented up pretty badly.
We were throwing Hail balls at one another, but during the storm it was terrifying.

People as close as 5 minutes away didn't experience anything.
There were lots of sirens, but no tornadoes.
Feels like Xomba got hit by an Ice Dragon. We were talking to people who have never seen this much snow, much less ice.
Gotta call the insurance company tomorrow. FUN FUN

Maybe God is finally getting back at Xomba for all those "2 girls, 1 cup" posts?
But seriously, that sounds pretty scary. Glad to here you all and the LPG (little purple guy) are OK.

Unbelieveabe, here I am in the windy city and it is 70 and Florida is having hail storms. Those pics were something.

We still have ice on some places believe it or not.
The morning after
So my car is dinged up bad. No broken windows.
One dent is so deep it cracked the paint. So much for my new car with not even 6k miles on it.
Hopefully, the insurance will take care of this.
One of our neighbors has a huge dead black snake in front of her door. It has dents all over it. Guess it tried to make a run for it. There are still small piles of ice in some places.

We had a storm not nearly as bad about a month ago and I was very worried that my truck would be dinged too. Well at least you are okay...remember that!! And all of us will try to make your income go up this month in case insurance doesn't pan out!

Always thought that Florida was the "sunny" place with the beaches? and you say it was snowing? How's that? Amazing. Does it snow otherwise in Florida?
I have a cousin who stays somewhere in Florida. She normally used to crib about storms and tornadoes, almost had her roof blown off once!!

No Snow
Hail is slightly different.
Never snows.
I think they got snow once here and it wasn't very much.

Yeah, Sorry, I didn't notice that you said "Hail" storm and NOT snow! I have seen hail storms in my place, Chandigarh, very similar to this, except that they were much smaller sized and would melt pretty soon. It also never 'snows' in Chandigarh.
However, they do make a racket which is very scary!
