Here's an example of what I might tell my kid/ teenager about sexual activity, love and respect for oneself and another in a creative way.

Here are my words
from mother to teen
to let you know that I know
how it is in between.

You’re no longer a child
and you’re not fully grown.
I was young once
And it’s not fun alone.

The older kids will do it
The pressures will be rough.
It might seem old fashioned
Standing strong will be tough.

Yes, this is new
and sex does seem fun.
But you must understand
life goes on when “it’s” done.

You don’t want regrets
be friends; that’s a must.
When the stakes are so high
THINK: could this be lust?

Learn him inside and out
please do take time to talk.
So when love does happen
there’ll be no reason to balk.

Know what you need
and your jewel will be found.
Keep your rep with your standards
and don’t screw around.

You’re gonna get older
and people do change.
You’ll have friendships and loves;
your desires will range.

Sometimes he’ll tell you
that you are ‘the one’.
You may be convinced:
set to meet a daughter or son?

It’s a lifetime commitment
Real Love will wait.
You might think I am harsh:
but I don’t hate your date.

Some day you’ll find him
and I will be proud.
But know that I love you more
He’s just not allowed.
