Sharks in Alaska

Sharks in Alaska

I Was sitting in my suburban eating lunch at the mouth of the Kenai River in Kenai, Alaska. In the water I noticed alot of fish jumping.

Was this a new run of king salmon, red salmon, too early for silvers, not pink salmon, I thought to myself I have never seen this before. Pretty unusual for "anytime" of the year. But it passed me by until...

I went to another favorite spot on Kenai River. It is about 2 miles up the river, a great place to let the dog run and so on. The road is called Cannery Road, typical name for a road by the world's most famous river for catching king salmon.

Got the truck parked, let Oly out to run (the doggie)

He stopped for the longest time down a waise on the beach, I went to see what was going on, he had found a small pile of sharks on the beach, they were still breathing, and jumped a little when I touched them with my feet. They didn't have net marks on them, so they were not caught by the Native's of Kenai in thier subsistance nets. This area of the river is a set net location for the Kenaitze Indians.

I had called ADFG (Alaska Department of Fish and Game) they wanted me to send in pictures if I had any. I did send them in, but they still could not tell me what may have happened. It looks as though they had beached themselves for some reason. Was something bigger chasing them? I never found out what happened and by the time the fish and game people came down, the tide had come in and washed the sharks away.

If any one has any clues would love to hear them :)

Shark Info ?

No I sure didn't. One person said maybe they were caught by fishermen and thrown there ... but there were no net marks on them to show that. Still is mystery :) If you would like to chat about Xomba or anything you want, join here: http://home.wanadoo.nl/mqs/ladykenai/chat.html ↑ Grab this Headline Animator

I wish i knew!

The blood wasn't coming from cuts, it was like coming out of the skin of them. And yeah I still don't know how they got there.... like i said there were no net marks on them ... you know? I have written to shark experts .... etc.. didn't ever get a good answer. Whoa, that is really

Whoa, that is really remarkable...Do you have any idea why they are all bloody? They look almost too organized to just have beached themselves...maybe somebody somehow caught them and put them there? or...maybe it was a megalodon! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalodon DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!!!!!
