Sharon Neth's Xomba Dream Job Contest
posted October 11, 2009 - 1:55pm
I am very lucky in my life, that I have achieved my dream job already. What I always wanted to do ever since I was a very young girl was to be able to work for myself and be a part of the Art and Craft industry in America. This
dream job has taken me across the United States four different times. I have been able to contribute my skills to the Wayside National Historical Site for their reproduction permanent collection.
I have had the opportunity to make textile design videos on Youtube for a public audience. Lastly, I have had the opportunity to write about my passion in magazines and articles for publication all over the world wide web. My next step is to produce a series compact disks of historical crafts and design primitive patterns for resale. I would like to sell these on the web, the store I currently supply to in Arkansas, and eventually other craft and antique stores across the United States.
All of my entire life it has been dedicated to the world of Art and History. For years, I have worked for the United States National Parks Service as a Historical Interpreter specializing in perservation of American Historical Textiles and passing that legacy to future generations. Now since I am out of the National Parks Service, I still feel that my gift to American society is talk about these wonderful American traditions with the rest of the world. By writing for Xomba and producing contend for the web, I feel that I am fullfilling my larger dream to the rest of the world by the knowledge that I have to share.

Thanks so much for the encouragement!
I just wanted to say thanks for the positive feedback! I am hoping to get organized enough to write more on Xomba since it is such a wonderful place to create and find your own Writing niche! I have learned a lot so far, anyway!

Great article and exciting job!
Thank-you so very much!
Thanks so much for your compliment! It means the world to me!
I know that I can produce the videos and get a great product out that will help future generations not to forget their past and try to think more creativly so that they are able to do things better or faster. So that they are able to become creative in the world economy. That is my dream that our American people will never lose their drive to create and make things better for the rest of our country.
Thanks Again,
Sharon

Thank-you so VERY much Joseph for your kind words! It means a great deal to me in reading that!
I live for passing on the legacy of American culture to our future generations because THIS LEGACY is what binds us together into the beautiful "quilt" that we show the world our pride and compassion for our people and others around the world. In this time of struggle in America, it is our Cultural History that gives us hope for better days and a brighter future if we work hard and become more innovative. Our future generations can do that and WILL do that if we show them the way!
That is what I want to do and so do many other Americans that make that sacrifice every day for our people.
Thanks Again for the comments,
Sharon

Excellent Job - One of admirability. One of much satisfaction
Thank you for your continuing service to our nation. I'm not a scholar of America's textile industry, but, a while back I had to do some research on a particular pattern. I was really surprised by the history of the number of looms there were in the southern U.S.
And, of, course I watch Antiques Roadshow on PBS and America's rich history is sewn in the production of textiles since before the revolution.
And, teaching our new generations about the industry within American history, past and present, I believe to be an essential part of knowing where America came from, who the people were that made it happen, and what sacrifices occurred to establish the industry during the days of the Industrial Revolution.
Congrats on already achieving a dream job. +1

Great article, Sharon! Sounds like a wonderful dream job to me! In school I hated anything to do with history but as I got a bit older, I discovered I love history! I find it so fascinating now and a job that blends history with textiles, crafts, and antiques has to definitely be a dream job.
Good luck in the contest!
