It's been a sad day for residents of Kauhajoi, Finland. Residents of the small city in the southwest region of the nation were shocked when a student at the local college and vocational school opened fire on fellow students. Nine were killed on the scene, and one later died in the hospital. One other student was injured by gunfire.

The shooter, identified by school officials as Matti Juhani Saari, then turned the gun on himself. Though he initially survived the blast, he succumbed to his own head wound two hours later.

In a morbid technological twist, Saari posted at least three videos on YouTube of himself firing and threatening the camera. The pistol used in the videos was a .22 caliber Walther automatic pistol. Whether or not the same weapon was used in the crimes is not known. Finnish authorities had questioned him on Monday, September 22, but he was later released.

In the videos he lists Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, perpetrators of the 1999 Columbine High School Massacre among his heroes.
