Short Term and Long Term Effects of Marijuana

Marijuana is almost the most widely used drug, used in joints, spliffs, bongs, and bowls. Does it have any long term or short term effects on an individual? Yes it does. There is an active chemical in marijuana called delta9tetrahydrocannabinol, or in other words THC. Once this chemical is in the bloodstream it has a pathway that leads straight to the brain.
Short Term Effects are distorted perception, having problems in logical situations, memory loss and difficulty in learning, and loss of bodily cordinations. In addition, that is why many high schoolers report to have crashed a vehicle when high.
Long Term Effects are more serious in the case of marijuana. Marijuana can trigger a nerve cell in the brain that destroys the motivation to do something, as well as heightening stress. It is known that heavy users of the drug will most likely have problems in reproduction. They either would not be able to produce children, or they would have children with behavioral and mental problems. There could also be changes in breathing and blood pressure as well. Lastly, heavy users are also known to have more emotional problems. They deal with anxiety attacks, emotional disturbances, and also have an increased risk in having a mental illness or becoming schizophrenic.
