As GE continues to warn markets that the credit crisis will continue to drive down profits, the media yank up the speculation as to whether GE will sell NBC.

GE's response is a predictable,"NBC is going nowhere." One aspect of the argument that the media obviously wishes to stay away from is that owning a media corporation is part of GE's propaganda. GE is a huge conglomerate with serious defence interests. Spinning the news makes strategic sense. They would have to be in very serious trouble to lose their voice.
