Sights Returning from 'Heaven Park' to Downtown Beijing, China

Sharing with you the sights on my walk from Tiananmen Square to Downtown Beijing. Since Beijing city is planned like a chess board, I decided to use an alternate route to return to my hotel in downtown Beijing from Tiananmen Square. It gave me the opportunity to see more things.< p>

You can see the biggest & most stately looking buildings near Tiananmen Square.

[img_assist|nid=299084|title=Me near more large new buildings at Tiananmen Square|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=75|height=100]
As much as there are already large new buildings near Tiananmen Square, more are sprouting up like mushrooms after the rain as you can see behind me in the photo.

The sidewalks & roads near Tiananmen Square are the biggest that I have seen. It is probably made to accommodate the large crowds & Army parades that China holds on occasions.

[img_assist|nid=299091|title=Me near large fountain at commercial building entrance|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=75]
Some large commercial buildings in the Tiananmen Square area have huge fountains near the entrance.

Another example of 'largeness' in the Tiananmen Square area. A road at the sidewalk coming from 'heck knows where'. lol :-)

Seeing a different scenery by using an alternate route back to downtown Beijing.

[img_assist|nid=299099|title=Traditional Chinese architecture roof detail|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=75]
Rewarded with seeing traditional Chinese architecture. Column, beam, & roof detail of a building being refurbished.

Looks a bit Japanese to me.

[img_assist|nid=299106|title=Hit by wrecking ball facade style|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=69|height=100]
The 'hit by wrecking ball facade' style building. You don't see this very often anywhere in the world. *chuckle* :-)

[img_assist|nid=299109|title=Red carpet welcome|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=74]
Red carpet being laid out in entrance. Some very important people (VIPs) must be coming to check out the 'hit by wrecking ball facade' style building.
