Today on the way home I just had to deviate from the normal routine and try out a new sushi restaurant.

So, here is my take on the Silverwood Sushi & Grill restaurant.

The Silverwood Sushi and Grill restaurant is located off of HWY 138 on the way to Silverwood Lake. This place was great, from the cleanliness of the environment to the freshly grown on site garnishes.

This Japanese restaurant has a really cozy feel to it. Large wooden tables that seat up to 8 people and a sushi bar add to the warmth.

If you dine here after 5pm they are currently offering an all you can eat sushi special for $19.99. From 5pm-9pm daily, except for Wednesdays when they are closed.

Today (4/16/09) at 4pm, I chose to test drive "The Ranch House Special" for $19.99. It is an excellent portioned sushi plate accompanied by an unimpressive Miso soup and a salad. The sushi itself was perfect in texture, taste and freshness. However I was most impressed with the presentation of the main dish and the just picked freshness of the garnishes.

The green tea, although steeped from a bag had a savory, light and overall wholesome taste. I couldn't help but have a second cup.

I would recommend not bothering with any menu items that include soup and salad, just go for the sushi!

All in all I would rate this restaurant pretty high. Definitely one you won't want to miss and well worth the drive. Only about a 20-30 minutes from Hesperia, California.

Enjoy,

The 40 has less than the 58! LOL MJ - Sending happy thoughts and Smiles! Avatar: Betrayal and Retribution http://www.valkyrieart.com/Poser1.html

Never made it that far, MJ

The company I worked for, Loomis Tanks, had an office in Arroyo Grande, which is where my deliveries originated. The 58 was about as far west as I delivered, with Long Beach as far south, and San Luis Obispo as far north. We had an office/dealer in Hemet, called Trailer Products, which took care of deliveries in San Bernadino, Riverside, and San Diego counties. CLICK HERE TO JOIN XOMBA TODAY!

From Barstow to San Diego

Although I lived in a community east of Barstow for 12 years, I now live in San Diego. I must say the weather from here much nicer! Temperatures of 30F in winter and 120F + in summer are just not for me. But, if the desert has good sushi and I'm heading that way...Gotta try it! Did you travel the 40 as well jdub? The 138 is famous for not having anything

Hesperia is a bit out of my driving radius, coming from San Luis Obispo, but I would definitely go if I was in that area. When I worked for a company that sold poly water and septic tanks, we did deliveries for a well-digging company out of Mojave and other private individuals, so I am very familiar with the 138, 14, and 58. The 138 (heck even Lancaster entirely) is flat, hot, and unremarkable. CLICK HERE TO JOIN XOMBA TODAY!

About 10 miles for Good Sushi

And about 1 mile for bad! Haven't been back to the bad one since seeing a family of cockroaches chillin' in the corner of the counter!! Thanks! MJ - Sending happy thoughts and Smiles! Avatar: Betrayal and Retribution http://www.valkyrieart.com/Poser1.html

Just How Far Will You Go For a Good Sushi Experience?

While driving northbound on the Interstate 15 you will want to exit at HWY 138, (just north of the scales)then take a right. Proceed 7.5 miles eastward down Hwy 138 and you will see it on your left-hand side. (YOU CAN'T MISS IT AS THERE IS NOTHING ELSE AROUND IT) The Google Maps address is below if you want to look it up. ADDRESS 13720 CA-138 Hesperia, CA 92345 Enjoy! I expect a new comment if you eat there so you can relate your experience too! :) FreeCracker4Jack Join the ranks of starving amateur writers competing for your attention and praises! SIGN UP HERE

Silverwood huh?

How far off I15? I'll be heading up to Barstow next month and might just stop by there if it is not too far off the I15. Sounds pretty good. MJ - Sending happy thoughts and Smiles! Avatar: Betrayal and Retribution http://www.valkyrieart.com/Poser1.html
