Simple steps to seriously reducing your cholesterol levels

by following most (if not all) of the tips below, they will have little impact on your lifestyle, HOWEVER, they will have a major effect on your health.

Heart Disease is the biggest killer in western society, and just adopting a few new rules in your life, you can make the biggest difference.

Often, what we eat, is one of the few things we can control in our lives - so make the most of it.

1. Olive Oil and Canola Oil. Replace all the oils in your house with these 2. Both of these oils will actually lower your cholesterol levels.

2. Include garlic in your diet. (Worse things have happened than being told to increase garlic on your diet surely!)

3. Include a glass or two of red wine in your diet. However, be aware of recommended alcohol intake guidelines!

4. Flax seed and oils. Many breads include flax seed. Try including these ingredients into your diet.

5. Oily fish. The good oils in oily fish reduce the bad cholesterol in your body. Swap some meat dishes for fish dishes.

6. Exercise. Have a routine. If you catch the bus to work, get on a stop later, or get off a stop earlier, and walk the rest of the way. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Take the dog for an extra walk, or extend it’s typically walk.

7. Hearth healthy margarines. Get rid of the butter and buy heart healthy margarines, make sure they do not contain hydrogenated fats, these are bad.

8. Increase the fiber in your diet. Do this by eating more fruits, vegetables, pulses and oatmeal.

9. Natural stanols, found in nuts, vegetables and seeds, such as sunflower seeds lower bad cholesterol in the body. Replace some of your snacks with these nuts and seeds.

10. Read the ingredients on things you buy. Example, pastry can be either made with lard or vegetable oil - where pastry is not a health food, it is possible to make the better decision. Compare fat content and fat types across products by reading the nutritional information on labels, this will increase your knowledge generally.

Wishing you all a heart healthy new year.
