simple words
posted May 4, 2009 - 7:33am Have you experienced having a day that everything you do seems to be disastrous. From the moment you wake up realizing you overslept, you are to be late on your first day of work. You slipped while going to the kitchen. You bump your head on your way out.
It suddenly rained. You waited for bus or taxi and you become aware there are many of you waiting. You leaped, you ran, got into fight like a scene from the "Superbowl" with other passenger for that one ride. You lost. You waited for the second. You won grabbing the taxi. While on your way, a road accident happen and it caused traffic. Now you are an hour late. At last you are in your office building....suddenly a man and you collided... the paper his holding and yours collided in air too. The man gets angry at you while both of you are picking and sorting out the paper. He gives you an unending lecture ... blah blah blah ("strike one!")... At last you reach your destination, the HR is waiting furiously, you get scolded for the second time("strike two!"). Your new office mate gave you a glare as if you are a competitor. The HR commented on your clothes for wearing it inappropriately revealing when you spent the whole night preparing for it thinking it was the best. You were oriented fast and expected to memorized every single detail told. Now the worked began.... your new colleagues seem not to be that helpful... calling you from here and there...commanding you from here and there.... the thought of yourself as human suddenly disappears from your vocabulary. The day is almost over, home is the only thing you wanted. Still you have one last paper to finish. Almost everyone is out now.... . At last...ooopppps.... a new employee like you, poured the coffee she is offering unto the rest of the paper. She apologized of course and offered to help but line of work is different from hers...rather its totally alien to her and she cannot really help. You forgave her and tell her it alright for her not to stay. Two hours passed your are still in the middle of your work. You are tired, hungry and about to cry. You are about to gave up... thinking of a resignation letter. The door in your boss office suddenly opens. As if you've seen an angel, he smiles back at you. You blushed... realizing it was the one you collided that morning. He looks in to your work and understandingly says you can finish it up tomorrow. When you thought you were alone, you were not alone. That little smile, that simple word of saying finish it up tomorrow was enough to heal the damage of the whole day. You are human again. Tomorrow will be a better day, you said to yourself.
Simple things.... does makes a difference. A simple smile. A smile tap on the shoulder. It does great things and prevent bad things from happening. I remember a moment in my life when everything i do was criticized... my eyes was blurry with tears I'm fighting not to fall and i really wanted to run away. I was tired and wanting a sleep. I don't know what prompted a stranger sitting beside me in a public vehicle but when i was about to get out, he looked at me, smiled and say "Good evening, ma'am!". I was speechless . My heart smiled back. It healed me from all the criticism of the day. I don't know him yet the simple thing he did was enough to strengthen me to go on in my life. My anger, my pain suddenly was washed away. I never seen him again but the simple thing he did made a great impact in my life i will never forget. God really moves in mysterious ways.
