Sir Alan Sugar, friend and admirer of the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Enterprise Czar of the British Government and star of the extremely popular BBC TV series The Apprentice seems to be buying Google Ads.

What does this mean to the world of advertising and advertising sales?

Quite simply it means that Google Ads work!

What does advertising which works mean?

Quite simply it means advertising which sells what it advertises, for example: goods, services, memberships and concepts.

What Effect Will This Have on Other Advertising Media?

It means that other advertising media will start to fail. Why would anyone pay more to advertise on TV, Newspapers and Magazines to achieve less sales. Unless these advertisers aren’t playing with a full hand, they are a sandwich short of a picnic, or a spanner short of a toolbox, they simply don’t know what they are doing.

How Can TV, Newspaper and Magazine Advertising Survive?

The only way they can survive is to change tactics. For example, the crappy lifestyle magazines will have to become quality – by that I mean they will have to have worthwhile, original content. Commercial Television will have to start to produce riveting TV in order to attract prestige advertisers.

What Does it Mean to Google Adwords and other Pay Per Click Companies?

It means there will be more competition for keywords and that their prices will rise. It means, in the words of Wilma Proops

”Yippee!”

Cheers Xomba Moderator re My Brain Hurts

Not only because you took the time to answer and you must be busy - what with the new site - but because its beyond you too! My brain hurts trying to understand Google shuffles, dances and quirks - more than when I play chess with my genius neighbour - glad yours does too (tee hee) JOIN XOMBA HERE FREE Xomba is an international online community and anyone can join. Search Results

When you see an article title show up in the summary of another result it means that Google has read that page when your article title was also on the page. Since this article was in the top rated block it was probably seen on a lot of pages that Google was indexing. Now why this article itself is not indexing is beyond me. I'm sure that it either was indexed and got knocked out or hasn't been indexed yet. Google has seen a link to it though (as evidenced by the search result) so it's safe to say that this article will be indexed at some point.

Xomba's ranking on Google search... How come? + Twitter note

Wondered if anyone can explain this: I put the following search term into a Google search engine to test the performance of this article (named Sir Alan Sugar Buys Google Ad! | What does this mean for the Advertisng Sales Sector) - there was no trace of the article without the " " but when the term was put in " " it was: "sir alan sugar buys google ads" the search returned: LK Advani Blog Ads on Google AdSense - 1:11pm29 Mar 2009 ... The Sixth Floor · Sir Alan Sugar Buys Google Ads! | What Does This Mean to the Advertising Sales Sector? ... www.xomba.com/lk_advani_blog_ads_google_adsense - Cached - in top place - ie it gave top place to a related Xomba article (nothing to do with Alan Sugar) and a link to that. Although my copy was included in its summary there was no link to my article. Also, the member who seems to benefit from my article (ie might be attracting readers) cannot be contacted as access to her/his profile is blocked. 1) How is this possible? 2) Is it fair? 3) What department of Google could explain this? Also, isn't this evidence that the algorithim (sp?) is not working properly? BTW the two other returned searches named the article in their summaries and had been picked up by Twitter readers. Dear Social Trash

Thank you for your comment. I am sure that Sir Alan Sugar will appreciate your well wishes and those of your wife Trudy too. However, I feel it only fair to point out, don't go spending money before you have it. If only the US and UK had heeded this advice the world's economic crisis would not have hit the entire planet (apart from Canada). These things do not happen over night. Disagreements on Xomba? Never! (In your dreams)

Like you jdubhub and you Mr Howard (the latter usually) I am a reasonable person. Obviously I can't speak for Dick Pringle or Wilma Proops but I find that even I have disagreements on Xomba. These are usually about politics though and with people who support right wing solutions, detest Barack Obama, anything liberal and forward irrational arguments (if any) and resort to flinging mud at my good self. I'm covered in it! Nowadays I stay away from their (or one man masquerading as many) poorly written, pathetic ramblings as much as possible and limit myself to one comment on theirs which includes a link to my truly "rational" articles. I hope they comment on my articles as I like to tell them where to go and put forward my own, better views. I've noticed that members vote for such of MY articles and suspect (indeed know because some PM me) that they enjoy seeing "the arrogant idiots" told where to go in no uncertain terms, before they start with the mud slinging and flagging my articles (none of which have been removed as yet) - tee hee hee hee! I wasn't expecting any disagreements about this particular article. We all know the capitalist model - prices rise when demand increases. Simple as that, proven time and time again. I fear Mr Howard is on a downer and wish him a fast and happy recovery. Take care all resonable members of Xomba who might be reading this. The rest of you can **** off [CENSORED] Your truly and rationally Sally Pemberton BA Hons., MA., D Phil., PhD., 6 A* A Levels PA to Wilma Proops JOIN XOMBA HERE FREE Xomba is an international online community and anyone can join. You challenged, I responded

Of everybody on Xomba, I am probably most okay with people not agreeing with me. So, I don't care that you disagreed, it's "why" you disagreed and the manner in which you expressed your disagreement. I simply responded in clarification of "why" a celebrity endorsement of AdSense was to all of our benefits in agreement with the original article and the article author's follow-up comment. I'm fine with moving on. CLICK HERE TO JOIN XOMBA TODAY!

Well, Jdub, I said it was my opinion before you said it

So, why not move on with your discussion. And, you will find people through out your life who will not agree with you. So, rather than dwell on it, or put my response up in lights, just move the conversation along...

Lucky I know what I'm talking about - selling ads

a popular, influential person, known for his business acumen will make it much easier to sell the concept of Google Ads. More advertising buyers will listen to PPC pitches. Then they'll discover: 1) they only pay if someone clicks their ad 2) they'll know how many people have seen their ad 3) that google ads are cheaper than other advertising 4) they'll know their Return on Investment compare that do what they already know about their current advertising results - diddly squat JOIN XOMBA HERE FREE Xomba is an international online community and anyone can join.
