Smelly little beast

Smelly little beast

So my dog attacked a possum last night. Or is it opossum? Anyway. So of course I am a responsible dog owner who takes his dog outside to do his "business" before bedtime. Apparently "business" meant something entirely different last night.

I recently fenced my backyard, and while back there, my dog Borris started barking at something. I didn't see anything in the direction of his bark (in hindsight, of course I didn't see anything... it was really dark). So I let him venture that way and suddenly he jumps on this "thing" and drags it around the yard (my dog's idea of "business") Actually I did the dragging because I was pulling on his leash to get him off, but everywhere I pulled the creature stayed glued to my dogs mouth. Ew.

Well the smelly little beast finally did his act of "playing dead" and as soon as the dog let go, I pulled him back from his prey. I took the dog in and then returned -armed with a flashlight and a shovel- and found that the smelly little beast went right back to the spot he was abducted from in the first place.

I felt bad for the little guy, though he looked uninjured. I mean, if I was attacked every time I didn't smell so good, well lets just say I would be attacked a lot. Anyway, that was my excitement for the night.
