So the Rehab. Department Called Me Today
posted December 19, 2006 - 7:35pmA lady from Oklahoma's Department of Rehabilitational Services (DRS) called me today and asked me what I've been doing instead of looking for a job.
I told her about the neurotherapist I've been seeing 'because my mom wants to be able to claim that she's trying.'< p>
"Well, she's just trying everything she can to 'make you better.' ... If you want money, you're going to have to do work ..."-blah-blah-blah ...
WHAT ABOUT THE FOURTEEN YEARS' WORK RIPPED OUT OF MY BODY?!? "Weilll, evereebodee has to go out and work!"
'Oh really, does everybody lose 14 years of their life?'
"Weillll, some people do ... you're lucky you're not living in a group home.... Now, what do you want to do for money?"
'Invest it. Where's my money?'
"Oh, you need 'experience' to make money doing that. You can't just send out applications to realistically get that kind of job."
Experience? I thought. EXPERIENCE?? Like the FOURTEEN YEARS' EXPERIENCE I lost that was never repaid or made-up-for?
I'll figure this up: $5.15 every waking (non-school) hour, plus $10.30 every school hour, plus $15.45 every sleeping hour (the time the body and mind really grow together).
How many hours are we talking about? First, the total hours: 14 years, assume 365.25 days a year, gives us 5,113.5 days, gives us 122,724 hours.
A third of that (8 hours a day ... 40,908 hours total) is spent sleeping, that gives us $632028.60.
The rest of the hours (81816) are spent awake, with half of three-fourths those hours from age 6 (8 X 365.25 X 24 X 3 ÷ 4 ÷ 2 = 26298 hours) spent in school. That gives us $421352.40 plus $135434.70
The total, $1,188,815.70, is the least (on top of medical-expenses, on top of the 'retardation payments' I discussed in "My Comment on OptiMINDzation," and on top of 'payment for delayed-justice') my parents would demand (if my dad weren't such a self-centered barbarian and my mom weren't such a "good little girl").
