SO, you say you're a Christian....?

So, you say you’re a Christian….

I don’t understand some people. I’m at work. I’m not ashamed or afraid to inform anyone that I’m Christian. Period.

At the time, I’ve been here a year. A co-worker here claims to be a Christian. She sends you’re typical loving Christian e-mails that speak of The Lord and spread a great message. Sometimes it’s a great pick-me up on a bad day. At times she thanks the Lord openly for what she feels are blessings and I have no problem with it. Neither does anyone else. The staff here is pretty open minded and laid back about everything. So it’s not a problem. We’ve all joined in some serious religious debate at times with no problems.

Yet, there is one instance, and I won’t go into too much detail because I don’t want anyone to feel offended or want to start a religious war with me. It’s a day before I start my Christmas vacation with my children. My last day at work for 2 weeks. She asks me a question about a particular scripture. The scripture is pretty simple. Black and White. It’s obvious what The Lord is saying. So, I state that scripture as plain and simple as possible with a very small break down. Low and behold this Lady verbally attacks me and says that I’m wrong. Even though we read out of the same style translated Bible, she almost goes ballistic.

Now, I stay calm no matter how heated I am internally, but I find it weird that someone who claims that they are Christian, can “attack” another Christian in any form, shape, or matter.
Just because you send an email that speaks of The Lord, or even Thank the Lord on occasion doesn’t mean you’re Christian. We do NOT attack each other, we support each other and the Gospel spreads a message of LOVE. So, with that being said… God Bless you all and I’ll catch you on my next Rant…. =0) Chief

I enjoyed this post, I feel

I enjoyed this post, I feel it is right on, and I completely agree with you. I believe that a healthy amount of discourse on any subject one firmly believes, whether it be religion, lifestyle, or even who should win the Super Bowl, helps that person to really analyze and vebalize what they believe and why. However, such discourse should only take place in a setting where the person whose opions are being challenged feels safe to express him or herself, without fear of ridicule or attack. Especially in terms of Christianity, a religion that professes and should act upon the teachings of Jesus Christ, which firmly state loving God and one another as the chief principle, we should not attack those who are of other beliefs, much less those who profess Christianity as we do. Keep on trucking :)

Um....

OK....? She asked me what a scripture meant, and in all honesty all I did was say the scripture a little bit slower. No need to get mad at me? I didn't write it, I just believe it.

OK

Christians have attacked christians since forever. That's why its not really a good idea to talk about religion at work. Some people a very adament in their views a will go off creating bad work environment. I know my Grandmother and Grandfather were big time Catholic. She claimed to have seen Jesus in her Kitchen and demons in her son's bedroom after her had some "visitors" when they were on vacation. My grandfather laid the cornerstone a the local church/catheral. Seemingly innocent remark can send someone off the deep end

Nor do I...

I do not wish to crticize those that believe in a God, in fact, I am quite jealous of them. I merely dislike the manner in which organized religion has hurt society over the years.

you are correct...

Religion is a word I should not have used. The word Religion can in no way explain my beliefs. Religion is a word created by man to categorize a set of Ritualistic beliefs and actions. This I do not follow. What I have and believe TRUE Christianity is, is a Living relationship with God. So I apologize for the confusion. Please keep in mind that I am in NO WAY trying to enter into a "Religeous Debate" of any kind, but thank you for your input....

You are absolutely correct....

Religion is a problem. I hate to say that word, or classify what I believe as a religion. So I apologize. Religion is a word, that can never give an explanation to what I believe. Religion is based on ritualistic acts and beliefs that I do not follow. What I am speaking of is a living relationship with God. Plain and simple. Please keep in mind that I am not trying to get into a "Religeous debate" of any sort. I was simply Ranting.... Thanks for your input tho.... Chief

I see your point, but if

I see your point, but if your rationale held water, the facts wouldn't be as they are, ie. religion would not be one of the leading causes of death in the history of the planet. And not just Muslims, lets dispel that myth, but a history of Protestants persecuting Jews and Catholics, three religions that all worhsip many of the same ideas. Not exactly, but many. Historically, organized religion is more of a root evil, that a tree of peace.
