Solanum Virus - What is it?
posted November 9, 2007 - 3:43amSolanum is a fictional virus that infects humans and turns him into zombie. This was conceived by Max Brooks the author of The Zombie Survival Guide - Complete Protection From The Living Dead. He is also a comedian, therefore, his book was created for joke purposes.
Taking in the context of the book, Solanum virus attacks the human brain through bloodstream. The heart then stops beating until the person is considered dead. The virus mutates its cells and gain control of the body making the person a living dead. He does not know himself nor anyone. A zombie cannot be taken down unless you destroy his brain.
Since Solanum is a virus it cannot be treated with any antibiotics nor any medicines of all sorts. Research is underway but no future success is expected.
If a person is bitten by a zombie it will take only few hours for the symptoms to manifest. These are discoloration of wounds, fever, vomiting, numbness in lower extremities, slow heart rate, and coma.
There have been accounts of zombie attacks from 60,000 B.C. at Central Africa down to 2002 at St. Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands.
In the realm of reality, Solanum is a large of genus perennial plants of Solanaceae family where some of vegetables and fruits are included like eggplants, tomotoes, potato, tobacco and more.
