Solar Power - Infinite Energy From The Sun
Solar Power - Infinite Energy From The Sun
In theory the sun is a practically infinite source of energy. The problems arise when trying to harvest this solar energy. However, technology for harvesting energy from the sun is becoming increasingly more efficient. This article gives an introduction to the present state of solar power technology and talks about how this technology may be used to help solve Africa's energy problem.
Given the opportunity, technology grows exponentially. Thank goodness solar power is starting to be given that chance. (Wind power, too). New, flexible / rollable solar panels and lower production costs are making solar a more viable option.
+1 for a great subject!
P.S. What do you think about the Free Rice program? Same principle and developer as the Hunger Site and directly endorsed by the WFP.

thanks for your comment, I think solar cell technology is only one of the areas that needs to be developed an put to use and that ultimately we will need to spread our energy production over several different modalities of producing power to meet the energy demands. Preferably the green technologies will be perfected so that most of the energy would come from renewable energy sources.
(About the Free Rice Program. I'll answer that one on you're hunger site thread)
We'd see many more advances in alternative energy and green technology.
Warren Buffett is even investing in wind power now with several wind farms established by his company MidAmerica Energy.
