Solar Homes

I took advantage of my city's rebate program which paid for more than half the cost of my 3kw solar panel system. This is a good time to take advantage of free local and federal money for solar.

I agree with you on this,

I agree with you on this, "The energy use never seems to enter the equation when making Home improvements." Although in California, I do see more and more starting to think along the consevation lines. I think the vaulted ceilings that have been so popular may now be a little less. Although they open your home, the energy cost to heat or cool that massive open space above your head is very high indeed. We have been thinking more and more about solar use ourselves, however, the initial costs are a bit much to swallow. MJ - Sending happy thoughts!

I think it's the best home improvement project to consider. People in the the US can spend on average up to $20,000 on a new kitchen and with the way the economy is going, your better off staying in your home rather than trying to sell it. The energy use never seems to enter the equation when making Home improvements. I've been doing construction work for the past 20 years and Solar has moved towards the top of my list for my own Home improvements. The recover time in the initial investment in my state is 7 years on average for a professional installation. That does not factor in the possibility of Electric rates going up or a DIY installation. The promise of electric cars in the near future also have to be weighed in. It's a move in the right direction for any individual to become more energy independent. +1
