Somjit Jongjohor Oldest Boxer in the 2008 Olympics Wins Flyweight Gold For Thailand on His Son's 7th Birthday

Thailand claimed another gold medal on Saturday, as Somjit Jongjohor defeated Cuba's Andris Laffita-Hernandez in the final bout in the Olympic flyweight competition.
Georgy Balakshin of Russia and Italian Vincenzo Picardi share the bronze medals.
34 year-old boxing champ, Jongjohor is the oldest boxer in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He fought Saturday evening for Thailand's second gold medal of the games. Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon claimed the women's 53kg Weightlifting gold the previous weekend. (Thailand also won a silver as Buttree Puedpong finished second in the Women's 49kg Taekwondo final.)
Jongjohor's teammate Manus Boonjummnong took silver in the Men's Light Welterweight medal bout bringin Thailand's total medal count to four (2 Gold and 2 Silver).
As an added bonus, it was the 7th birthday of Somjit Jongjohor's son who sat ringside with his mother. Immediately after the bout, the charming boy with a huge smile told Thai reporters how proud he was of his father. Jongjohor's wife was extremely happy and said that her husband deserved to retire at the top of his sport.
