Sox, Rugs and Rock and Roll! Mia's Wild Weekend Exposed
posted June 8, 2008 - 1:57pmPhew! What a wild, wild weekend. I think I should stay in bed Monday and recover from the long hours of partying and drinking this weekend.
Wait, I know what you’re thinking…that doesn’t sound like something Mia would do, right? Well, I may be 42, a mom of 2 and a Muslim, but hey, I know how to have a good time! Check out my life-style version of sox, rugs and Rock and Roll.
Sox: This is where it all begins folks. With all the socks I have to launder for all four of us, I have a never-ending basket of mismatched nightmares. I recently started buying all of us white socks so you could just grab from the basket and go. Why should I spend hours of my life matching up pairs when they’re just going to get grimy and smelly and thrown back in to the laundry cycle within 24 hours? Nope. Not for me.
Rugs: This part of my weekend goes with the drinking that I mentioned before. My beautiful, beautiful decorative rug was stained by slurpee! My son, age 12, spent his meager allowance on a wild cherry slurpee at 7-11. He came back in the house with it, tripped over my daughter’s flip-flops left in the middle of the room and the slurpee went flying. Did I mention the flavor was RED! There’s a huge stain (now light pink) on my living room rug. There is not enough Oxyclean or Kaboom in the world to remove slurpee. If anyone has a cleaning tip for this, please share it with me.
Rock and Roll: Of course, the partying that I mentioned before will go with this part. One of our favorite things to do lately at home for entertainment is to karaoke with youtube. Just put karaoke in the search box and then the name of the song you want to sing. Chances are someone has posted the lyrics with music so you can sing to your heart’s content. With gas prices so high and movie tickets the price of a week’s worth of groceries, this is a fun thing to do at home AND save money. Since we’re a highly-competitive family, we make this a singing contest with prizes for the winner. No, the prize is not a slurpee. I shall gloat now…my version of Aly & AJ’s “The Break-Up Song” won the night last night! Yay me! My husband, whose first language is not English, was a close second with “Sweet Home Alabama”, his absolute favorite American song.
There you have it. My wild weekend exposed. I have embedded the karaoke version of my winning song in to this xombyte. You can practice all you want, but I don’t think you can beat me because this funky mama still has a groove or two left in her yet.
Peace,
Mia NW
