Speaking To Strangers CAN Be Okay

Speaking To Strangers CAN Be Okay

At first this website seemed a little bit...dull. The idea is that you're in a chat room for two. You link up with a stranger from somewhere in the world and you begin chatting with them. I figured it would like any other chat room where the people on the other end are either severely stupid or complete perverts - and I was kinda right in that I got one stupid person and one deviant to talk to.

However, all you have to do is click on 'disconnect' when faced with this. Persevere and you will eventually connect to someone interesting, different or just plain decent.

I haven't used this site very much but the times that I have, I've had the pleasure to chat to someone cool.

The first time, I got connected to a girl my age from Indonesia. We both were unsure of what to talk about to begin with - you have no idea what the other person is going to be like or whether you'll offend them somehow. But once we each assured to other that we were thinking this same thing, it became easier. It seems that if neither of you know just what will offend the other, it's easier to test the water.
We discussed relationships and education. She thought it was fun and cheeky that I've lived with my guy for 7 years without getting married to him and she explained that it would probably be considered a sin where she was. I explained that it was a good thing as I could get to know my guy incredibly well before deciding to spend my entire life with him. She said that sounded like a good idea. We talked about work and studying and the differences in our cultures before I had to leave to make supper.

The second person I talked to was from China and turns out that we shared the same passion for travelling. She wanted to see Greece but couldn't as it was far too far away for her to afford. I described what Greece was like when I went there and advised her to save as best she could. She said she was now very much encouraged to do so. Turns out that we both really wanted to visit India and Thailand.

Like I said, I've not used this site very many times but when I have, it's been enlightening and educational and has left me with a feeling of satisfaction that no other chatroom could. Oh, you also have the option of saving your conversation to read over at a later date.

So if you're going to try this out, let us know about any funny, interesting or weird conversations you've had. Enjoy!

That does sound like an

That does sound like an interesting site.  I was on Facebook for a while, but soon grew to hate it and left.  I am still a member of Twitter, but I seldom visit it.  A bout the only sites that I visit on the internet are writing sites and they are the sites that I either write on or have in the past, or when I am looking for a new one to write for.

I think I can quit looking for another, though, as I really like Xomba.

Good article
