Speedo LZR Racer Swimsuit Kicking Up More Controversy
posted April 19, 2008 - 11:19pmThe Speedo LZR Racer swimsuit has caused a lot of controversies to rise up, and a lot of world records to fall. Now some members of the German swimming team is worried that, because it can't wear the LZR Racer suits at the Beijing Olympics this summer, the squad has little chance of winning medals, no matter how talented it is. One of Germany's top swimmers, Thomas Rupprath, expressed his concern in remarks he made April 19th.
Whether its the LZR Racer's snug fit or its perceived buoyancy or something else, top swimmers have been able to swim faster and break records when they are wearing Speedo's high-tech suit.
The problem for the Germans is that their swim federation is under contract to Adidas, and can't wear the LZR Racer. The Adidas contract runs through 2009.
More than 20 world records have fallen to swimmers wearing the LZR Racer since it was introduced in February.
