Spirit and Matter; Pondering Relationship
posted August 1, 2009 - 1:38pmAsk the question, "Does spirit have gender, as flesh does?" Then ask, "Does Spirit know death, as matter experiences it?" How about, "Does spirit have limitation or rules of existence? Can it be harmed if outside its limitation or rules of existence?" And, "Does spirit experience pain?" How you answer these questions are a part of the foundation of who you are and how you live while alive in what form you occupy in our matter made frame of life.
Lets flip the picture and look at at from the other side. Lets ask. "Spirit, does it recognize gender in us and if so, does it matter to spirit? Does spirit recognize the death of us and if so, would that have any effect on how it exists?" Add the question, "Does spirit recognize spirit? Does it interact with spirit in any context recognizable to us? Can spirit be restricted or effected by some structured set of rules imposed by other spirit, as those of us are in the flesh? Can spirit be undone?"
How do we answer those questions? I have spirit within, as you do, yet I am not able to have a frank conversation with it. I can not ask these questions of spirit and have it tell me clearly the answers. It may be safe to assume that spirit can not ask me questions in some frank manner and get clear answers in return. Both, the spirit and flesh, occupy the same house in some symbiotic relationship and neither seems to have some direct way to clearly communicate. On our part, the matter half of the equation, spirit is interpreted by impressions and interpretations of emotion or feeling. Not a sure method to know in any sure way what is being understood is correct. I wonder if spirit has similar difficulties. Interesting problem I should think.
We can ask any question. Questions like why are we here? Where did we come from? Where are we going? Who are we? These questions sound legitimate in word structure and direction of thought. How do we know if they really make sense to ask? When the matter being asks any question, understanding how the matter being works systematically is important. Why we think and how we think in order to organize the thought path is primary in understanding why we chose the questions we ask.
Lets look at spirit in the only way we can, through the lense of our own emotional interpretations of the world around us. If spirit exists in a state of energy and that energy is sensitive to differing furies, we can imagine how spirit would alter its existence accordingly. An interaction of sorts, not unlike matter beings. The energy that is spirit is whole, yet must be able to occupy many places at once, thereby being in more then one place at one time. Spirit would sense spirit as part of spirit even when spirit is separate from the whole. Being separate in its wholeness, it can act against itself and effect change in how its energy is consequently. (As it seems to in us.) From a matter perspective, that is spirit acting against spirit and can only be seen conflict. Having conflict with itself, spirit would be limited in its being. If consciousness is a matter affliction and spirit is without consciousness, then there would be no conflict in spirit. If, as we considered earlier in this paragraph, spirit changes its energy with surround energies, that is a level of consciousness and would make possible that spirit is subject to similar 'rules' as we who are bound in matter are. That makes possible conflict and non-conflict in the spirit realm. If spirit and matter both have potential for conflict and non-conflict, what else might they have in common? How far do matter being and spiritual being overlap? If interaction between spirit and flesh occur, and conflict and non-conflict are possible for both, is it possible for spirit to be in a state of non-conflict with the flesh and flesh to be in a state of non-conflict with spirit? In the history of matter beings, this is a preferred state of existence as it is sometimes referred as being one with the universe or one with God. If this is so, then it must be possible for spirit to be in conflict with flesh or flesh to conflict with spirit. Which leads what in this potential duelism? ...Is it the spirit that takes the lead or is it the flesh that takes the lead? Can this relationship between matter and spirit be offensive to either? If so, who or what determines what is fair and what isn't? Who or what is the mediator between the two? Of course, that question is firmly rooted in the evolved rules of matter born beings that are you and I. It may be that question makes no sense to ask outside of our understandings in life.
Having said all of that, If I were spirit and was conscious, and felt conflict from matter beings, I might enter the world of flesh, knowing that I have already entered it billions of times over, to resolve what conflict is there. The plane of matter offers an avenue for spirit to interact with spirit as though separate from wholeness. A two way swinging door, it offers the same possibility to create non-conflict as it does the possibility to create conflict. It is hard to say how much the flesh distorts what spirit senses. That is until the flesh dies and the spirit is released again. Perhaps as spirit is released from flesh, stored in the energy that is spirit, the experience of flesh creates an evolving relationship between spirit and matter. The evolution of matter and spirit would have the same potential to be in conflict as it would be in non-conflict. This fury between matter and flesh may be but one of many furies that are in the universe. It may be an important fury, and as one who is rooted in matter I would like to think it is important, or it may have little significance in the universe.
All of what I have written are merely thoughts and ponderings. It is and always has been my quest to try to understand spirit and matter and how the relationship exists. I am not satisfied with traditional questions and answers that are readily falling from the lips of those who shape our minds while we are young and impressionable. Writing, I have discovered for myself, is the first part of making idea into form. And if spirit communicates in idea and inspiration, I feel I need to make it as easy as I can for spirit to communicate with me. Please, feel free to respond to any part of this piece if it feels right to do so. The more spirit present, the better. Thank you.
Peace

Spirit and Matter
Boy oh boy, I thought my questioning spirit connections and energies were confusing and thought provoking to others. I think you just topped anything I have asked!! : ) Which is a good thing!
I would like to think that the part of spirit that is within us does not cause conflict, but I too wonder. I believe that the spirit part of us does report back to the universal Spirit in a sense as an aid to the "grand plan", whatever that may be. This allows the unversal Spirit to send the necessary energies to the matter for the Spirit desired result. The conflict starts with the human matter's interpretation or free will choice to decline/accept the offerings.
I think the conflict is not on the spirit plane, but on the human matter vs spirit energies. Spirit tries to guide, matter tries to push and pull. Kind of like a magnet pulls and connects or pushes away from another magnet depending on which ends are held to one another - I know this has to do with positve/negative energies, but I'm not a very science terminology oriented person. I'm more of a philisophical theory person.
This is just my immediate thoughts. Great discussion starter article.
