Spirituality and Religion

Many people today are on a quest for reaching a higher consciousness. For example, NASA - the space voyage to make contact with other intelligent life forms besides us - human beings. However, we seem to have missed one important factor; in order to reach a
higher consciousness we need to resolve our self-destructive or war mentality towards mankind. We are creating a fatalistic reality for the next generation as long as War is ‘the option’ and not the last resort.
War on terrorism has a face that has peeled away from just being a threat to attack to a misconception. The so called terrorists we have been claiming to ’seek and destroy’ have a face like us and they too are being assaulted by us. Who is the enemy? We humans have truly become the terrorists of the future. It has been portrayed in movies and I’m sure it will continue to be displayed in art how we-humans need to regroup and stop the violence!
Our children are dying and our elderly are being violated; these are signs that if we don’t convert from this flirtation with death our very existence will be no more. How does this tie in with the title: Spirituality and Religion ? Here’s how, we need to repent. I mean change our minds and our ways. A time-out would be a quick fix, we need a lasting remedy.
For example, we need to “study war no more”. As long as we support troops going to war, finance war, and perpetuate conflict by competing with other nations instead of sharing our discoveries, we are at war with the world. Peace is a state of mind, soul, body and spirit, a true Spirituality and religion that has become almost virtually extinct.
Jesus Christ always uttered Peace or shalom before entering into a home, this custom is not even common place today well, it’s not yet become common courtesy here in the USA. We must repent go back to spirituality and religion not for means of wanting to esteem ourselves better than our neighbor but for unselfish gain- becoming our brother’s keeper. Ask yourself this one important question “Am I my brother’s keeper?” If you can say yes and prove it daily by putting the needs of others as priority on your daily list of things to do; then you have repented and you are on your way to a life of spirituality and religion that is virtually good.
Peace and Love.
