Splenda In The Drinking Water!

Trace amounts of medicines aren't the only substances that could be lurking in Illinois drinking water, which, in the wake of an Associated Press investigation, will now be screened for pharmaceuticals.
Residents might also be drinking the chlorinated compound sucralose, which is showing up virtually intact in wastewater.

Sweet!

(Sorry, couldn't resist.) The public is just now becoming aware of the dangerous if unintended consequences of our materialistic, consumer-driven, throw-away culture. The corporations knew but didn't want to dip into their profits by changing what needed to be changed while the problem was still small enough to be fixed easily. Now, we have mercury-tainted fish that are hormone-ridded from the urine that seeped into the water. I guess now we can wash it down with some sweetwater. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

Disturbing, yet understandable

The article makes some good points, I saw something similar to this on another web site. It makes sense that these materials are found in the water because we excrete them in trace amounts and everything cannot be removed. However, it is disturbing, as who knows what effects those could have if you consume that quantity and variety of drugs throughout your life?
