Star of hit series "Monk" dies
posted April 10, 2008 - 3:12amOn Tuesday, April 8, Stanley Kamel, star of USA Network hit series "Monk", died of a heart attack in his Hollywood home. In the television series, he played the psychiatrist of lead character, Adrian Monk. He was an important part of the USA Network family. Kamel had almost 40 years of acting in his lifetime, mostly on television. He played in "Days of Our Lives", "Murder One", "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills 90210" as well as smaller roles on many other shows. He also appeared in several movies in his career. He began acting and received his first telivision break in the 1970's playing Eric Peters on "Days of Our Lives". He was found dead in his Hollywood Hills home by his long time agents and friends, Donna Massetti and Marilyn Szatmary. He is survived by his brothers, Dr. Stephen Kamel and Robert Kamel, 5 nieces and nephews, and 6 grand nieces and nephews. He was 65.
