Starbucks to Cut 6,700 Jobs; Close 300 Stores

The economic downturn is still affecting Starbucks, and the chain announced today that it will close 300 stores (200 in the U.S.). This is in addition to the 600 stores it announced it would close last year.

If there's any comfort to the employees, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is trying to share the pain: he has asked the company's board to cut his annual base pay to less than $10,000 (which is said to be the minimum needed for Schultz to keep benefits for himself and his family).

Starbucks closings

Yeah, you'd think after 12 noon would be the time when most people would order decaf. And whatever happened to that controversy about Starbucks wasting all that water? At least they will be saving some water on the decaf they won't be brewing.

And! And!

They are not going to brew decaf all day long anymore! They will only brew it upon request after the morning hours are over. Visit my homepage here
