Starbucks Is Closing

The CEO of Starbucks Coffee, Howard Scultz, is planning to close Starbucks on Tuesday. Every one of Starbucks' 7,100 stores will close for three and a half hours at 5:30. Starbucks has 135,000 employees, and the closing is for the purpose of reenergizing them. The Starbucks baristas will receive further training in making espresso drinks. Starbucks officials said the closings are "designed to energize partners and transform the customer experience ... to provide a renewed focus on espresso standards that will help ensure the exceptional quality of every beverage," The closings are one of several moves CEO Howard Schultz has made to continue Starbucks' growth including getting rid of breakfast sandwiches in some stores, offering free Wi-Fi, and laying off many employees.
