Starbucks Store Closure List
posted July 18, 2008 - 5:29pmStarbucks Scrambles to Shore Up Profits
As many of you are aware Starbucks is still reeling from the heavy blows delt by a serious downturn in consumer spending and what appears to be rather poor planing in the geographical locations chosen for several of their stores.

It doesn't take rocket science to conclude that opening stores within the line of sight of one another might be considered "over saturation". I never could see that practice being a justified way to do business even in the best of economic climates.
Now in an attempt to regain their composure and more importantly their profitability, Starbucks is scrambling to close down 600 locations across the nation.
The majority of closures will occur in California, Florida, Texas, and will be as follows 88 locations in California, 59 in Florida and 57 in Texas.
What I would do if I were in a position to pool enough venture capital would be to take over the 600 locations that Starbucks is letting go of, and launch a new brand in direct competition with Starbucks. After all, the locations are already known by consumers as a place to get coffee, so it would be an easy transition to a new brand.
Ever hear of Hell's Coffee.com?
Anyway, anyone with enough guts, gimmick and foresight could be a serious contender to the $5 cup of coffee. Even if they just bought up the California and Texas Locations...
Now onto the list.
