Abortion is Homicide

My friend and I had a friendly conversation about abortion today and this led me to
do some research. Here are some things that you may not have known.

Some of the descriptions are graphic.
You've been warned.

The only abortion procedure that is now illegal in Virginia is the partial birth procedure.
Many people think that this is the only one that is "bad" for our "moral."

Here are the legal abortion procedures:

Early Vacuum Aspiration: within 7
weeks after LMP

This surgical abortion is done early in the pregnancy up until 7 weeks after
the woman's last menstrual period. The cervical muscle is stretched with
dilators (metal rods) until the opening is wide enough to allow the abortion
instruments to pass into the uterus. A hand held syringe is attached to
tubing that is inserted into the uterus and the fetus is suctioned out.

Suction Curettage: within 6 to 14
weeks after LMP

In this procedure, the doctor opens the cervix with a dilator (a metal rod)
or laminaria (thin sticks derived from plants and inserted several hours
before the procedure). The doctor inserts tubing into the uterus and
connects the tubing to a suction machine. The suction pulls the fetus' body
apart and out of the uterus. One variation of this procedure is called
Dilation and Curettage (D&C). In this method, the doctor may use a curette,
a loop-shaped knife, to scrape the fetal parts out of the uterus.

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): within 13
to 24 weeks after LMP

This surgical abortion is done during the second trimester of pregnancy. Because
the developing fetus doubles in size between the thirteenth and fourteenth
weeks of pregnancy, the body of the fetus is too large to be broken up by
suction and will not pass through the suction tubing. In this procedure, the
cervix must be opened wider than in a first trimester abortion. This is done by
inserting laminaria a day or two before the abortion. After opening the cervix,
the doctor pulls out the fetal parts with forceps. The fetus' skull is crushed to
ease removal.
Dilation and Extraction (D&X): from 20 weeks after LMP to full-term

Also known as Partial-birth Abortion, this procedure takes three days. During the
first two days, the cervix is dilated and medication is given for cramping. On the
third day, the woman receives medication to start labor. After labor begins, the
abortion doctor uses ultrasound to locate the baby's legs. Grasping a leg with
forceps, the doctor delivers the baby up to the baby's head. Next, scissors are
inserted into the base of the skull to create an opening. A suction catheter is
placed into the opening to remove the skull contents. The skull collapses and
the baby is removed.

Out of the 3,700 abortions that are
performed each day around:
93% are a result of social issues. Such as the mother not wanting parents to know,
not wanting the burden of having a child, or thinking that they cannot take care of the
baby.
6% are a result of medical complications to the mother or child.
Less than 1% are a result of rape/incest

Why take away a baby's right to live just because you are afraid of feeling socially
awkward? If you were raped, I understand that would be such a horrible thing, but killing
your child to get rid of the hurt is wrong. You're doing something horrible to someone as a
result of someone doing something horrible to you.[[OMIT]] I have a friend who
also did a little messing around, got pregnant, and had her baby even after her parents told
her to get an abortion. She stood by what she knew was right and swallowed her prid. She's
got brains and a heart. She has the most beautiful baby in the world and I'm so proud that
she did the right thing. Is that fair to completely deny a child
the chance to:
Feel love
To be loved
To breathe air for the first time
To laugh for the first time
To see the faces of the people that brought them into this world
To have a childhood
To have a family
To share life with people that mean the world to them
To hear music for the first time
To watch their children grow
To sing and dance
To get an education

Just tell me how on God's green Earth that sounds fair to you?! Cause I'm obviously
not freakin getting it.

EDIT: Oh you know what else I love? Scott Peterson got charged with
a double murder. One for his wife, another for his UNBORN child. Huh?

C. Everett Koop (Surgon General) just recently said in an interview that neither
him or his colleagues have never in his time as Surgon General heard of a case
where a mother had to abort her child in order to say her life.

OMIT: I Decided to omit the part about the friend I USED to know who had an
abortion. It's not my place to judge and be harsh, but she should be ashamed.
God teaches us to love one another. I hate the sin, not the sinner.

abortion is definitely murder. which is why i say all doctors who perform abortions, and all women who have had an abortion, should be tried for first degree murder and executed! after all, most states have the death penalty. lets see all these horrible murderers be punished! it will only be justice, right? right? if you don't believe that, then you don't believe that abortion is murder. WHICH IT ISN'T. if you don't believe in abortions, don't get one. if you want to keep people from having abortions, then look into the sociopolitical reasons for abortions, and stop that. look at the world we live in, think about why someone would not want to or be able to bring a living being into this world, then take steps to change it.

You know, its reall funny. I wrote that reply to this xombyte when it was called "This is a post" or some such and was just "adkjadkjdkjfdjf." As a social worker, I see some of the sleeziest stuff imaginable. One case that stays with me is a woman in her early 40's whose husband forced-that was the word used in the court proceedings-her to have an abortion. He claimed that she used voodoo to become fertile after 2 years of missed periods, so it was his right and duty as head of the household to purge his wife of this 'demon' and save his other 5 offspring from the 'sickness' the demon baby would have brought into the family. How did we get to see such a case? After the abortion, he asked her to see their religious leader and be exorcised herself. She lost it and tried to pull his tongue out of his head. She did rip a good part of it off, but doctors were able to resection it. Did I mention that she was being charged with 1 count of premeditated murder and 1 count of attempted murder? Her defence was that he kept her locked in the house for the last 10 years of their marriage, and she was terrified of him. He brought in his drinking buddy who read up on "how to do abortions" on the internet at the library. Of course, no one know who this friend is; and she could not give an accurate description as they turned out the lights in her room and bonked her over the head with a baseball bat before putting her under with an ether soaked rag. The case ended with the wife going to an all female mental institution for assessment and treatment-they deemed her 'paranoid'-go figure...and the husband was ordered to seek professional counselling outside of their religious belief system in order to become a better parent to the remaining 5 children in the household. He was not held responsible for anything-rather, he was pitied for his lack of parenting skills. We can see how messed up socitey is. No one is held responsible for their actions, and information is readily available on the net for any local yokel to play doctor. I can't let my own values come into my work, and I have no right to judge others beliefs or cultural practices-but I feel like shaking people who don't posess common sense, or common decency for that matter. I wonder if being a social worker is helping make a difference. There are days I'm convinced I'd make more headway working at Tim Hortons. P.S. KINDNESS Kindness in words creates confidence. That was terrible and disgusting, and pictures definitely don't lie. I only had the stomach to look at a few pictures; it was just too sad. Honestly I don't see how someone can make that decision.

Ken get a life, oh you have one, you wouldn't have if your mom had chose to abort you. It is murder and most everyone knows it. Maken everyone should care. People want to save the life of a man who committed murders, rape and robberies or multiple murders. But have no problem killing an innocent unborn child. And I don't care if the child is a result of rape. That baby is still innocent. He/she did not make the mom pregnant. There are other options like adoption and many childless couples are finding it harder and harder to adopt an infant due to abortion. Adekade is right. Every human life should be considered special and have a right to live. Many doctors who have performed abortions stopped because they could no longer stomach the crying of the babies they were ripping apart. Would you save the life of a bird from oil slick waters? Would you save the life of a puppy someone threatens to drown? Then why would you murder an unborn innocent child?
