Recognizing the impact the economic downturn has had on technical communicators, STC announced that it will grant 250 scholarships to members who have been laid off, let go, downsized, or have been forced to take a pay cut of 10 percent or more.

"These are tough times for some of our members," said STC President Mark Clifford. "And the need to stay current with the tech comm field cannot be overemphasized. It's important for members to continue to expand their knowledge of content management, structured authoring, DITA, globalization, and usability, to name just a few of the areas that demand our expertise because of their direct benefit to both the employer's bottom line and to our members' employability."

Up to 250 scholarships of $400 will be given to members wishing to attend the STC Technical Communication Summit 3-6 May in Atlanta, GA.
