The plot of Stephen King's "The Stand" takes place in a post apocalyptic world caused an accident where a government lab released a deadly virus which killed the majority of earths population. survivors of the incident begin having dreams about a mystic old woman and a scary man. It is soon realized that the two figures symbolize the forces of good and evil, setting the stage for a final confrontation between the two.
