The Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has been involved in the latest series of strikes along Afghanistan's eastern border with Pakistan.

Widely used with great success across Afghanistan and Iraq, these unmanned drones equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance equipment and smart weaponry can circle targets for hours waiting for prime targets and then deploy munitions with deadly accuracy and without warning.

Unfortunately, these drones are also involved in many of the civilian deaths in Afghanistan, and those deaths are undermining the allied effort by alienating ordinary Afghanis. There should be more operations on the ground, it seems, to eliminate the actual terrorists without causing so many deaths of innocents.
