There is a special way of drawing fantasy art that relies quite heavily on imagination and pooling that area of the mind that needs to sketch notes and new concepts to progress through the process f creating good and unique fantasy drawings of anything that you can create.

Here we take a look at a fantasy drawing that I did and I walk you through the steps that I went through to arrive at the end result.

Th above drawing and any drawings like it often start out as little ideas, small sketch notes on the back of scrappy pieces of paper and the initial idea is concieved at this stage and developed further to the point of adding more unique details that wasn't there at the beginning.

Taking into account the ideas and inspirations that drive me on in the drawing process I am able to draw more similar drawings and keep them in a file for future reference, the more drawings the better for other projects.

The next stage is defining the drawing from the rough sketch stage and building on the dark and light of the figure that you see above, I do this by strengthening the line work with a fine liner and then erasing the old pencil lines, much as it pains me to get rid of the wonderful graphite effect at this stage, I know full well that this will be replaced later with some shading with a medium tone pencil to define the warrior creature.

The final stage of the drawing process is to clean it up and add details that add to the warrior character and bring it more to life, once this has been done, I scan it in the computer and size it how I want to use it after removing smudges and then I edit it some more and file it away on archived files on separate storage space.
