The stingrays (nay - eaglerays!) are again in the news for the wrong reasons. This time killing an unfortunate lady sunbather.

Spotted Eagle Rays are not Stingrays

I know that you were taking your cue from the news story, but even the commentators admitted that Spotted Eagle Rays and Stingrays are two different animals. They probably referred to it as such because not many people know that there are different Rays.

Yesss, and not being much of a marine person - me too had never heard of 'eagle rays' though stingrays are pretty common knowledge.
