Stop Drinking Diet Soda, and You Could Reduce Your Risk of Getting Cancer
posted August 4, 2007 - 5:21pmI knew that if someone quit smoking they could greatly reduce their risk of getting cancer, but if you quit drinking? (Drinking diet soda, that is). Yes, it's actually true. Aspartame is still in a lot of diet sodas, and 40% of aspartame is Aspartic Acid (doesn't sound a lot alike,
I thought so too?). Aspartic acid acts as neurotransmitters in our brain, helping send information from neuron to neuron.
That sounds great, right?!? Hold your horses. If your brain gets too much of this stimulation it can backfire. Too much of this stimulation can allow excess calcium to enter the brain. Excess calcium can kill off our neurons. The killing off of neurons can trigger excess free radicals. Free radicals are the building blocks of cancer. Do you see the chain effect here?
And I thought drinking only killed brain cells (actually, that's alcoholic drinking). Drinking diet soda, also kills off things we vitally need. Save the neurons, people!
