Storm Clouds

I wrote this in about 5 minutes during a 2 hour drive to the hospital to see my dad who was hopefully going to undergo surgery to remove his pancreatic cancer.  They opened him up...and closed him back up.  There was nothing they could do.....and there's nothing I can do to bring him back.

The sky is dark and gray and my mind is full of clouds
The sunshine that was so bright has all but faded from sight.

What hope there was is now far gone
Nothing left but a sad sad song.
It wasn’t su pposed to be this way
It was supposed to be just fine
But all life really is, is a race against time.
Time to laugh, time to cry,
time for hello, time for good-byes.
No time left for words, no time left for time.

My eyes are open but nothing is what I see
Silence is all I hear
The world could stop spinning for all I care
People are falling like leaves on the ground
We can only hope spring is near.

But winter is upon us now, cold dark and gray
Eternal winter for some, but always winter in our hearts.
It leaves no one untouched. It blows through our minds
Like a tearing wind
Leaving nothing but desolation behind.

Most of life is pointless, good or bad
You live your life then sit and wait for it to end.
Storm clouds are rolling in
And I don’t think they’ll ever go away.
