My thoughts:
This movie surpassed all my expectations. In fact, going into this movie I was expecting it to be just another Will Ferrell movie... now don't get me wrong... I fucking love me some Will Farrell. I believe him to be one of the greatest comedians today. But he does such an amazing job stepping out of his shell, or maybe he's just showing just how talented he really is. It's like Will Farrell's "The Truman Show" ya know what I mean? He proved to me in this flick that he in fact can do more than comedy. He is a genuine actor, and I solute you Mr. Farrell!
Tony Hale also does a great job, I'm very much used to seeing him in nothing but comedies as well.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, it's not easy to be an actress I like. I'm not sure why, I'm just a little more picky when it comes to my leading ladies. I very much enjoy Maggie Gyllenhaal. She does very off the wall movies, great movies though, playing such dynamic characters. One of my favorites would have to be The Secretary. A review I suuuper need to do, haha.
Anyway, she is no different in this film. Ana is a very intelligent character, and it's something you can see in her long before she reveals she went to Harvard Law, humbly stating she was barely accepted... but I mean come one... how many people are even barely accepted to Harvard Law.
Off track again... ok back to the movie. Ana is also very strong and independent, but you see her open up in such a beautiful way once Harold is able to get over the everyday things and just go after what he wants.
I love that he buys her flours by the way, and I'm not one for the mooshy mooshy shit. But it showed the thought he put into what he was doing. They weren't just normal everyday flowers that every guy buys every girl they ever date, no... they are something that she would love, and use, they are special just like his feelings for her.
This movie is highly original, and if you don't like the story, don't like Will Ferrell is a more serious role, or don't like this movie for some reason, respect is still owed for the originality of the story.
B+ all the way!
