Stuck Between Indecision and Idiocy: Is There Intelligent Life On Earth?
As accustomed as I’ve grown to the idiotic spectacle of human comings and goings, there still occasionally happens episodes that leave me shaking my head. This week I had two of those.
Some days ago a person, whom is known for pathologically making totally vacant statements, said, “Only queers read Playboy Magazine.” Being a glutton for punishment, I just had to ask how they came to such a conclusion. The answer was as inscrutably logical as the statement. She answered, “Because only men who can’t find a woman read those magazines because it’s the only way they can satisfy their need for sex. The same men resort to having sex with other men for the same reason.”
On some level I guess I expected such convoluted reasoning but part of me needs to know how those conclusions are reached while another part of me needs to make the bonehead voice their own idiocy. It’s sort of like the old adage, “Never remain quiet and be thought a fool, when you can speak up and remove all doubt”.
The other incident happened today at a doctor’s office. While waiting my turn another patient was at the reception desk making a follow up appointment. She was given the choice of 1 PM on a Thursday or 1 PM the following day. She stood there absolutely perplexed and frozen in a state of incomprehension as she was totally unable to make up her mind between the two dates. She went back and forth for minute after minute as if she were deciding whether or not to send someone to the electric chair or as if on her decision rode the fate of the republic. Meanwhile a line was backing up. The poor receptionist was astonished that despite her every effort to comfort the lady and try in any way to help the decision along, the lady remained frozen. It was reminiscent of the old "Let's Make A Deal" show when the contestants couldn't decide which door to choose. Eventually she arbitrarily chose one of the dates and asked the patient if that would suffice and she expressed a sigh of relief and shrugged her shoulders yes. I mean to say that this person has to be totally emotionally crippled if she can’t make a simple decision like that. I wonder if she has the same problem deciding whether she should brush her teeth first or gargle first in the morning.
I can only reiterate what I have said in this series of anecdotes many times previously, man survived not because of his intelligence but because of the power of sheer numbers like insects and sponges. There can be no other explanation.

I Think you May be Right (in some cases)
I have to marvel at the intellegence of our species sometimes too. It does make you wonder doesn't it? Some of these folks, drive cars, carry firearms and handle our food as well as our money...eee.

There may be intelligent
There may be intelligent life on Earth, but it is extremely rare. I'm sorry you had to witness these fits of idiocy. I know you are already not too keen on the current state of the human race. Perhaps you should just avoid contact with other humans altogether. It's just going to get worse.

Sheesh! I wonder how they even plan a trip to the toilet.

As a matter of fact, I spend less and less time around people. They are just too frustrating to tolerate.

Why?
You can try to change the world!:-) If you don't like people, you cannot change them, but you can work for the next generation. I do that!

We all make idotic statements from time to time
If only we would record our every minute of every day of our lives we would be surprised, and sometimes shocked, at some of the "idiotic" things we do or say. Have you found yourself saying or doing something then, a couple of seconds later, say out loud, "Did I just say (or do) that?" --Good Post +1--

There is no changing people. Any attempt to "improve" them only results in concentrating the problem. I prefer to give them a wide berth as much as possible.

What I refer to isn't your ordinary "Yogi-ism" but a chronic problem that is growing. I refer many to Steve Allen's great book on the subject entitled "Dumbth".

Hope!
OK! The most people are idiot. Me too.

there is a big distinction between them. One is does this person do it chronically or occasional slip of the tongue?
