Study: Internet and Cell Phone Users Are Not Isolated From Reality

At first thought, it may seem that increased Internet use would lead to people having fewer friends and becoming increasingly isolated from each other. However, a new survey finds that Americans who use cell phones and social networking tools on the Internet (such as Facebook or LinkedIn), have larger and more diverse "core discussion networks" than those who don't. Also, their social networks are more diverse, which makes sense when considering the large scope of the Internet.
