style and accessories - realistic suggestions to clothing designers

Although clothing designers sometimes make one of a kind styles that are gorgeous, they're not practical for the majority of the world. Not everyone has hundreds of dollars to spend on one outfit.

Models these days have unrealistic figures. Most people I know are short, tall, thin, heavyset , have large breasts, wide hips, are tall waisted, short waisted, have long and short legs and all sorts of figures unlike those models.

The fabrics they use require special care and some of the colors are not suited for everyone. Another thing to take into consideration is the design itself. Just because something looks good on a model does not mean it's going to look good on everyone else.

It seems like these designers get an idea in their head and produce clothing styles that they like instead of what the public wants. Every year they come out with different designs, but the choices of fabric and color are limited. Not all of us want to look the same as everyone else. there are popular colors every year, but who are these colors popular with? Usually the designers themselves. I mean how many people do you actually know that look good in burnished Melon or Aubergine?

So if any of you designers are listening, this is what we want.

All men and women and children want stylish clothing to wear , and they want it at reasonable prices .

Clothing in a variety of colors that complements our skin tone.

Fabrics that are easy to care for and stand up to multiple washings and wearing.

A variety of styles that accent our good points and diminish our flaws.

Mix and match styles that already go with things we have in our wardrobe.

Accessories to match and complement our outfits.

Easy to wear fabrics that do not bind or cling.

Easy access clothing with limited zippers, buttons , and clasps.

Skirt hemlines at a reasonable length, suitable for a variety of leg types.

The new colors of the season, but still colors that complement our skin tones.

Shoe styles in a variety of heel types.

A larger variety of clothing styles to choose from. In other words just because thongs might be popular a certain year, doesn't mean everyone wears thongs. Many of us would like a normal style panty or bathing suit to wear.

Heavier men and women would like a larger selection of clothing to choose from.

They would also like more stylish clothing in larger sizes.

Plus size clothing should be made in styles that draw the eye upword and appear to be slimming.

The racks need more petites size clothing.

Contrary to popular belief not everyone wears yellow gold jewelry. Could we please see the same styles offered in both gold and silver jewelry.

Sometimes gold buttons look tacky on certain color fabrics. We ask that you coordinate gold and silver buttons to the fabrics they look best on.

There is too much difference in sizing. Could there be more uniformity in size ranges. In other words sometimes a size medium is cut small or large and not a true medium.

The color chartreuse does not look good on anyone. We do not want to see it on the racks.

We would like more shades of different colors. Bright white is good, but some of us look more stylish in winter white or ivory.

Stop using so many material colors with yellow undertones. Most of us prefer colors with blue undertones.

Contrary to popular belief not everyone looks their best in olive green, khaki, and black.

Several different styles of slacks is preferred as not everyone looks best in the same styles.

Jackets and blazers with soft collars, pockets and rounded hemlines are preferable to points.

What ever happened to inexpensive sweaters and coats? That is something everyone should have at least one of in their wardrobe. While we're on the subject what ever happened to cardigan sweaters?

Not everyone likes a hood on their shirts.

Elderly people like to dress stylish also. How about some simple styles in good taste for them.

Can we get rid of the tacky tee shirts with the hideous graphics.

Bring back the softer colors, and light blue jeans.

Remember if you wouldn't wear it yourself, don't try to push it on us.

Thank you.

Great suggestions

I hope some fashion designers out there are reading this Xombyte large people do NOT like or look good in stripes that go around the body or big gaudy flowery dresses or shirts either. Way to go Kat on this one. I mostly make my own style but I like your practical suggestions, finding clothes would be much simpler if designers took your suggestions to heart.
