Survival Guide for Guys : First Date
posted March 23, 2007 - 10:13amThe first date sets a baseline for any and all future dates. Plan accordingly. As much as you want to go balls out and have a "sky's the limit" mentality, most of us cannot support that for very long. Keep it simple. It serves a few purposes.
First, it leaves plenty of room for more. It's very difficult to screw up a simple date. It also allows you to focus on her without distractions. Which of course increases the likelyhood of a second date.
Second, keeping it simple allows for some creativity on your part. Picnics, coffee, the long walk in a nice place. While these all sound cheesy it again allows for time to focus solely on the girl. And since chances are you asked for the date based on a physical attraction to begin with, actually speaking to her is a great idea at this point.
Do NOT expect anything more than the date. Do NOT assume anything. Just keep an open mind, go with the flow, follow her lead and enjoy yourself. You'll most likely know by the end of the date if you will have or want another one.
One last thing, open/hold the door for her for Christ's sake. Meet her at the door. Don't just pull up and honk. Pretend for a second, for those of you that must, that you are a classy guy.
First dates don't get a do-over.
