Sweeney Todd Review

Last night, I saw Sweeney Todd. It surpassed my expectations. It is a musical, but I believe even those who do not like musicals would enjoy this. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton make a great team. They worked together in Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Sweeney Todd. They also have their separate works. You’ve seen Johnny Depp in Cry-Baby, From Hell, Finding Neverland, Pirates of the Caribbean, and other movies. Tim Burton has directed Beetle Juice, Batman, Batman Returns, Big Fish, and other movies. The team broke the boundaries of their other films and completely out done themselves once again with Sweeney Todd.
Although this movie is a musical, I feel that most anyone could enjoy it. With no prior singing experience, Johnny Depp was phenomenal. The great thing about Johnny Depp is that he makes the role his own. When watching him, I tend to forget that I’m watching a movie.
Sweeney Todd is a story about a barber that loses his family. He begins to take revenge by slitting the throats of the people responsible. His business partner Mrs. Lovett bakes the dead men into meat pies. There is a lot of blood, but the movie wouldn’t be same without it. Sweeney Todd is a Broadway musical. Tim Burton did his research and watched different productions of it and found that it was better with more blood than less blood.
I cannot give you the ending to the movie, but the last scene took my breath away. It was beautiful in a bloody way. I do hope that all go and see it. I also hope that they all enjoy it. It’ll be amazing experience.
Happy Movie Time!!!
