Taiwan's Acer buy Gateway for $710 mln
posted August 27, 2007 - 4:41amAcer, a Taiwan PC constructor which is placed No°4 in the top ten PC constructor list, will buy Gateway for $710 million. After the agency Reuteur for "a bid to expand in the lucrative but highly competitive U.S. market where Gateway is based".
"Acer said the merger would create a company with more than $15 billion in sales and 20 million PCs shipped per year".
Considering those amount, this merger will probably help Acer to goes up in the top ten of PC constructor.
Considering too that some month ago, the No°1 DELL has fallen to the 2nd place, to the profit of Hewlett-Packard, which became the 1st PC seller of the world in term of volumetry.
Until where Acer could expand, and how many place on this top ten will they gain ?
