Tal Wilkenfeld, a Young Bass Player Jamming with Guitar Greats
posted November 29, 2007 - 1:12amIf you watched the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival on PBS last night (as I did), you were probably wondering who the young woman bass player was on stage, able to hold her own playing with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and other great musicians old enough to be her grandfather, practically.
Well, she's Australian-born New Yorker Tal Wilkenfeld, and she's been Jeff Beck's bass player on the road recently. Adept in rock, jazz, funk, and jam-band music, Tal Wilkenfeld has also played with jazz great Chick Corea and with the Allman Brothers Band, and has recently released an album of her own, called Transformation.
Tal Wilkenfeld is in her early twenties, but looking at the photos on her MySpace page or her own Web site (below), you'd guess that she's hardly out of her teens.
